Many early samplers do not have the letters “J” and “U” in
their alphabets because they were not part of the early Latin
alphabet and so the letter “I” was used for “J” and the “V” for
“U.” The letter “s” is often replaced with the printers “s”
which looks like the modern f.
CORRECTIONS: a stitch that was omitted on the chart--it is on the large letter M on the sixth row of alphabets. I have circled the area and the block with the 2 dots is where there should be another stitch as it appears on the cover. Thanks Carol Hinze Mundle for catching this one.
The bottom left border pretty sure it is wrong it has hearts (baked apple) which most likely should be palomino or putty. Thanks to Jeanne Desjardins Hammell for this one
This leaf doesn’t match all the others. I just followed the other ones. This is page 5
If you look at the picture...on the house, dirt road goes all the way down against the satin stitch but not on the pattern. Alma did stitch the dirt road down to the end of the satin stitch. It outlines the base of the house.
In the upper right corner, flower bud shows the symbol for mocha when it should be Baked Apple
Several of the leaves along the border do NOT have tips. Add them if you want. Hard to tell from the cover photo but some appear to not have the tips.
Part of the branch shows rather then | like the others.
